Well , emotional intelligence is something which is related to managing and balancing your own emotions . There was a time when I could not balance my own emotions in the past . But when I learned about this new topic , it was an eye opener for me . So let's see , what is the agenda for today ?
Today , we will be learning the concept of emotional intelligence . We will be learning the meaning . What exactly is emotional intelligence ? We will be learning the three skills of emotional intelligence . What are the skills required ? How does emotional intelligence make a difference in your lives ?
Well , emotion intelligence is also known as equal rights . You can call it Bill one . And of course , at the end , what do we learn from the Andile topic ? Concept of emotional intelligence , well , very , very important how and when did it start ?
How did it concept start and where did it come from ? Well , it started in the year 1990 by two gentlemen and very intelligent gentleman called Peter Salvaje and John Mr. Well ,
these what the psychologist who studies psychology back in 1980s and then they came up with this concept called emotional intelligence . After doing a lot of research on the same topic . What exactly is emotional intelligence ? Have you ever thought about it that can you actually be emotionally intelligent ? Yes , you can .
So what is it exactly ? According to the dictionary , meaning the capacity to be aware of control and express one's emotions and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically ,
that simply means that you are able to control and balance your own emotions in a way when you can decide whatever you're feeling in your heart is actually right or wrong , even if it's anger or any kind of rage or anxiety . Is it right to feel that particular emotion in that particular situation ?
So that is actually being emotionally intelligent . Right now , we will see what are the skills required . How can you actually be emotionally intelligent ? So what are the three skills required ?
The first skill is . Well , you need to identify and name your own emotion . You should be able to name your emotion and identify and label it . For example , if you're feeling angry but you feel that you're not very sure whether it's angle , whether it's depression , whether it's anxiety , that means you do not really have the skill to know how you're feeling .
So knowing and identifying is the first step . The feeling , the emotion , the second step is the ability to harness those emotion and apply them on your day to day routine . That means now once you label your own emotion , you address them . And now you have to apply in your day to day routine . How will you do that by solving your own problems , by taking judicious dipshit decisions . Right . So that's how you'll be able to apply in your personal and professional life .
The third skill is. The ability to manage emotions , for instance , regulating your own emotion and also understanding the emotion of the opposite person . So emotional intelligence doesn't just limit yourself to grasp your own emotions , but also extends itself to know somebody else's emotions furthermore .
So if you understand these three skills , you will be . You are 50 percent dead . Let's see what's ahead of this . No , how does emotion , intelligence actually affect our day to day routine , day to day lives ?
The first thing up here is emotional intelligence can lead us on the trail to a fulfilled and happy life.
That means one . Once we are able to understand our own emotions , we'll be happy . We are much more happier , joyful , satisfied and content in our lives . For example , if you are frustrated . You know that you are frustrated and that's how you'll be able to decide how to come out of that frustration , if you are happy , you know that you are happy , you're joyful .
And that's how you know that these other things I need to do to continue being happy . Isn't it ? Second . Emotional intelligence can make your cardio .
If you're emotionally intelligent at work , you'll How you will be able to be smarter balance your own emotions and control them
For example , probably if you , you know , probably feeling very angry on your colleague or on your boss or any of your subordinate .
If you're not emotionally intelligent , you would vent out your anger there and then .
But if you want an emotionally intelligent person , you would know that I do not have to actually rent out my anger on my colleague or my boss at that particular moment . However , I need to think about it first . If my anger is right or not . And then decide what you have to do . You have to be in control of your emotions . Your emotions should not be able to control you . And that's how you will be successful at work .
Right now , the third one . Emotional intelligence can actually save your life . Now , how it can save your life ? It I'm sure it must be very surprising for you to know this fact . But he has it just completely true . Well , there are times when you are feeling those negative emotions like anxiety , sadness , you're being upset or anything . What people usually do is they kind of suppress their emotions , suppress suppressing your emotions is the worst thing you can ever do , because that's how you are , you know , of being in a shell .
You are depressing yourself even more . You're getting into that . You know , you're the dark shell there . You don't know how to get out of it . If you're emotionally intelligent , you know how to control your negative emotions . Right . And you will be more helpful and more positive . That's how you can actually give yourself a healthier and a better life . Well , at the end , I would like to conclude by saying it is very important to understand that emotional intelligence is not the opposite of intelligence .
It is not the triumph of hard overhead . It is the unique intersection of both . Very interesting fact . At the end , we realize that it is not about , you know , thinking from your mind or thinking from your heart and which one is better .
However , it's always a mix of both heart and your mind which will lead you towards success
